Barca Snap Atletico’s 13-Match Unbeaten Streak
Barcelona consolidated their position atop La Liga by defeating Atletico Madrid 3-1 at Camp Nou. The victory ended Los Rojiblancos’ impressive 13-match unbeaten run in the league and snapped their seven-game winning streak across all competitions.
First Half: Goals and Missed Penalty
Despite Barcelona enjoying more possession, Atletico proved clinical when Baena finished with composure after a sharp run from midfield in the 19th minute.
Raphinha equalized just seven minutes later, rounding Oblak from Pedri’s pass to end his La Liga drought since September. Lewandowski then squandered a penalty, blazing high into the Camp Nou stands, before Oblak denied his thunderous header. Barcelona generated an impressive 2.27 expected goals in the first half alone.
Second Half: Olmo Strikes, Torres Finishes
Olmo put Barcelona ahead in the 65th minute with a clinical left-footed strike but was injured while shooting and replaced immediately. Thiago Almada missed a golden chance for Atletico despite having an open goal.
Torres sealed the win in stoppage time from Balde’s cross, extinguishing Atletico’s resistance.
Head-to-Head Dominance
Barcelona have now lost just once in their last 10 meetings with Atletico (8 wins, 1 draw). Their only home defeat against Los Rojiblancos in La Liga came last season.
